How to Create a Wedding That Guests Will Never Forget

The ceiling installation. That's the one everyone's still talking about.

A full suspended floral and greenery canopy stretching across the reception space at The Maine of Williamsburg — and honestly, the moment guests walked in and looked up, the entire tone of the night was set. This is what happens when a couple commits to an experience rather than just a look.

RSG Weddings & Events coordinated this Williamsburg wedding, and from the very first detail to the last song of the night, every piece was built around one question: what are guests going to feel?

Moments Guests Actually Interact With

One of the things that made this wedding stand out beyond the design was how many things guests got to actually be part of throughout the night.

A live wedding painter set up during the reception, capturing the celebration on canvas in real time — which created its own ongoing moment as guests wandered over to watch the painting come to life. Signature cocktails were waiting at cocktail hour. Glowsticks hit the dance floor once the party really got going. The bride even kicked off the first dance with a slow dance for everyone, pulling the whole room in together.

These aren't just add-ons. They're the moments people talk about on the drive home and text each other about the next day.

Personal Touches That Made It Theirs

Two dogs in tuxedos walked the processional. That's the kind of detail that tells you exactly who this couple is, and it was one of the most memorable moments of the ceremony. The dogs were escorted down the aisle by the best man, received by the family at the end of the aisle, and later in the evening made it into portraits.

The couple also incorporated an audiobook station for guests, a wooden dessert display with a bundt cake cutting and bundtinis, and outdoor fire features lit around the venue throughout the evening. Every piece of it felt considered, without feeling curated to the point of stiffness.
